England & Company, a leading independent investment bank, recently announced that Bill Getz has joined the firm to lead its debt advisory practice. Based in its New York office, Getz will be responsible for England’s private debt placement and liability management business. Getz’s addition significantly expands the firm’s capabilities in the private capital markets.

Getz brings over 25 years of experience advising, structuring, and executing middle-market debt transactions for private equity sponsors, small-cap public companies, and privately held businesses. Getz has completed financings and M&A transactions with an aggregate value of more than $150 billion.

“Bill is an incredibly talented professional and a tremendous addition to our firm. His extensive experience, both as advisor and lender at leading institutions, combined with our team’s deep industry knowledge, greatly enhances England’s ability to deliver superior results for our clients,” stated Craig England, CEO of England & Company. “With today’s turbulent financing markets, our Debt Advisory Group is focused on helping private and public companies optimize their capital structures to increase flexibility and facilitate growth.”

“I am honored to be a part of a firm dedicated to serving growing companies in vital industries such as Healthcare, Energy, and Industrial Technology. I look forward to partnering with England’s leading sector coverage bankers to deliver our clients a suite of advisory services spanning the capital structure,” Getz said.

Prior to joining England & Company, Getz was a Managing Director at Steele Creek Investment Management (an affiliate of Moelis Asset Management) and Atalaya Capital Management, focusing on investing in credit products. As an investment banker, Getz founded and ran the Leveraged Finance and Financial Sponsors businesses of Mizuho Bank in the Americas, where he sat on several of the bank’s management committees and the capital allocation committee. As a Senior Managing Director and General Manager at Mizuho, Getz oversaw and managed the bank’s $4 billion leveraged finance portfolio and $1 billion direct private equity investment portfolio in the Americas. Getz also served as a Managing Director in the Leveraged Finance groups at RBC Capital Markets and Bear Stearns and co-founded the Financial Sponsors group at Lehman Brothers.

Getz earned his BS in Accounting and Economics at the University of Delaware and his MBA at the University of Chicago.
